Kromowidjojo Records Third Fastest 50 Freestyle in Milan

Ranomi Kromowidjojo was one of 11 swimmers who recorded top 10 times today in Milan.

Kromowidjojo won the 50 freestyle in a time of 24.69. She now ranks third in the world behind Cate and Bronte Campbell.

Natali Lotcova finished second in a time of 25.42 followed by Agaia Brindle who finished in a time of 25.65.

Arianna Castiglioni won the women’s 100 breaststroke in a time of 1:07.09. The time was a lifetime best for the Italian who entered the competition with a personal best of 1:07.16, which she recorded just a week ago.

Castiglioni’s time keeps her in the second position with only Alia Atkinson having gone faster this year.

Marina Carraro finished second in a time of 1:09.28 followed closely by Moniek Nijhuis who recorded a 1:09.46.

Marco Orsi took the men’s 50 freestyle posting a time of 22.22 which places him sixth in the world rankings. He was followed by Federico Boochia who finished in a time of 22.34 which puts him 10th in the world rankings. Andrey Govorov finished third in a time of 22.49.

Ilaria Bianchi won the women’s 100 butterfly in a time of 58.29 which places her seventh in the world rankings. Elena Di Liddo finished second in a time of 59.28 followed by Natalia Novtcova who touched in a time of 59.44.

In the women’s 400 freestyle both Federica Pellegrini and Diletta Carli snuck into the world’s top 10. Pellegrini finished in a time of 4:08.29 just ahead of Carli who touched in a time of 4:08.84.

Piero Codia took the men’s 100 butterfly in a time of 52.47 which currently ranks ninth in the world. He was followed by Matteo Rivolta who posted a 53.35 and Evgeny Korotyshkin who touched in a time of 53.60.

Stephen Pizzamiglio won the men’s 50 backstroke in a time of 25.55 which puts him ninth in the world rankings. Simone Sabbioni finished second in a time of 25.64 followed by Niccolo Bonacchi who touched in a time of 25.84.

The final top 10 time of the day was recorded by Femke Heemskerk who took the women’s 200 IM in a time of 2:12.90 which puts her 10th in the world. Laura Letrari finished second in a time of 2:16.44 followed by Alice Nesti who touched in a time of 2:17.64.

Arianna Barbieri won the women’s 50 backstroke in a time of 28.81 while Claudio Fossi took the men’s 100 breaststroke in a time of 1:02.35 and Damiano Lestingi posted a 2:03.08 to win the men’s 200 IM.
