Kenyon College Belly Flop Contest

October 08th, 2013 College, NCAA Division III, News, Video

It was a perfectly ordinary Friday in Gambier – everyone was up with the sun (or before), then went about their school days. But the afternoon practice had something special in store. After a very challenging aerobic workout, the assistant coaches organized – and made mandatory – a team-wide belly flop contest. The Lords and Ladies each competed in their own divisions, and the competition was on.

Part of me wishes I had been there – but some of those smacks sound so painful I’m glad I wasn’t! So here it is – the good and the bad, the ugly and the truly spectacular.

The Kenyon Lords finished first at the NCAA championships in 2013, and the Kenyon Ladies were runners-up.

Very well done ladies and gentlemen of Kenyon College. This endorsement comes from someone who considers himself an expert of the bellyflop. Keep it fun and painful…
