Seattle Metropolitan Aquatic Club – Head Site Coach

 

SMAC is a multisite 600+ swimmer club based in the city of Seattle and surrounding communities whose mission is to create an inclusive community committed to exemplary performance.

 

Seattle Metropolitan Aquatic Club is looking for site coach to head up our Mt. Rainier site in Des Moines WA a water front community 15 miles south of Seattle.  This site houses four groups ranging from Age Group performance to Novice.  There is an established swimming population in the surrounding area, a supportive facility with four Summer League teams and an established lesson program feeding into the site.  We are looking for a leader who will continue the process of building SMAC into a regional power.  Quality people, great board support, stable pool time, and an excellent group of coaches provide a good foundation for growth.

 

Head Site Coach Responsibilities

 

  • Create an environment where families want their children.
  • Establish a site culture where the process of learning and individual responsibility is valued.
  • Educate swimmers and families about the roles and value of technical excellence, commitment, and competition in setting the foundation for high-level performance.
  • Collaborate with the head coach to define seasonal goals and objectives. With the support of the coaching staff, implement a team wide plan to produce those results.
  • Promote and build the Mt Rainier program to a self-sustaining number of swimmers
  • Where appropriate, assist swimmers in goal-setting.
  • Conduct periodic parent/team meetings to inform parent community of team issues and events.
  • Maintain current coaching certification requirements according to USA Swimming and Pacific Northwest Swimming
  • Other duties as assigned by the Head Coach

Desired Qualifications

  • Competitive swimming experience at the club or collegiate level or background in lesson instruction
  • Minimum three years coaching with a USA swimming club with a proven track record of success
  • Strong organizational and seasonal planning skills
  • Strong communication skills with both swimmers and parents
  • Ability to lead, support, and follow depending on the situation
  • Teaching degree, athletic training certification or similar

The position will require:

  • A positive self-motivated individual who is willing to learn, lead, sell the vision and work hard
  • Approximately 20 deck hours per week + administrative duties and meets
  • Attend local and regional meets as required

Job requirements:

  • Lifeguarding (or willingness to certify), first aid, Safety Training for Swim Coaches
  • A working knowledge of Team Unify and/or Team Manager
