Italy To Test Their Best

With an eye on the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio the Italian Swimming Federation will be running their top athletes through a series of testing protocols in Ostia over the next few weeks.

The program was put in place early in the year with the first round of tests were conducted from the 12th-18th of January and the second will be run from the 9th-15th of March with the final round of tests being running in May.

“The project control and development of high performance is aimed at monitoring and support of top athletes,” said Caesar Butini, the Technical Director Italian Swimming.

Athletes’ biomechanics will be analyzed and they will also go through a series of functional tests on the dryland. The two will be analyzed in conjunction to be able to determine the ideal technique for each individual.

The major goal is than to work with the athletes coaches and programs to implement a system that can develop that technical ability.

The swimmers involved in the program are:
