Futures Finalist Spencer Tretter To Be A Cleveland State Viking

Spencer Tretter, who trains just across the state line at the Mount Lebanon Aqua Club, has signed a National Letter of Intent to Cleveland State University. Tretter is a middle-distance swimmer who can contribute both in IM and freestyle:

  • 200 freestyle- 1:42.11
  • 500 freestyle- 4:36.37
  • 200 IM- 1:57.39
  • 400 IM- 4:14.92

Tretter finished sixth this past summer at the East Futures (Greensboro, NC) in the 200 freestyle (1:58.36). He was also 6th in the 100 freestyle at the same competition (54.31). Tretter finished 11th at the 2015 Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association AAA State Championships this past spring with his 500 freestyle best time for Seneca Valley Senior High School.

Tretter should be a scorer right away for the Vikings. His 500 freestyle would have put him in the B-Final at last year’s Horizon League Championship, as would his 200 freestyle. He would have also swam faster than three out of four swimmers on Cleveland State’s 800 freestyle relay at that meet. His 400 IM would give him a third event just outside of scoring range, it took 4:14.81 to qualify 16th last year.
