Four Aggie Swimmers Double Up To Beat Rice In College Station

The Texas A&M women’s squad hosted the Rice Owls on Saturday in College Station. Although it is an odd time for a dual meet, in the midst of winter invite season, both teams had strong performances considering the training they are both going through. Texas A&M topped Rice with a score of 167-91.

Seniors Lili Ibanez and Sarah Henry, junior Ashley McGregor, and freshman Laura Norman, all doubled up, winning two individual events each. Ibanez went 23.16 and 50.63 to win the 50 and 100 freestyles. Henry was 1:48.14 to win the 200 freestyle and then 4:11.75 to win the 400 IM. McGregor had a rough lineup, with the 200 breaststroke and 200 butterfly. She handled both well, however, winning the breast in 2:15.16 and the fly in 2:03.72. The final double winner from yesterday’s meet was Norman, who won both the 100 back and the 100 fly at 56.75 and 56.07, respectively.

The Aggies also won both the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays. Rice senior Erin Flanigan was the only swimmer to win an individual event for the Owls, claiming the 1000 freestyle with her time of 10:12.61.
