Former WI Pool Supervisor Ryan Ronayne Added To USA Swimming Banned List

A former pool supervisor in Fond du Lac County, Wisconson has been added to USA Swimming’s List of Individuals Permanently Suspended or Ineligible after being accused of sexually assaulting a minor.

Ryan Ronayne was working as a sheriff’s deputy in Green Lake County and a pool supervisor in Fond du Lac County last summer. Accusations arose that he had started an inappropriate sexual relationship with a minor girl who was working as a lifeguard at the time, per WBAY.com.

The girl says Ronayne started flirting with her, eventually making advances via text message and sending her an illicit Snapchat photo. WBAY reports that Ronayne met the girl in July at a middle school and invited her to his home. The girl alleges that sexual contact followed. Ronayne first denied bringing her to his home, but WBAY reports that he backtracked, eventually admitting that she came to his home, then admitting that oral sex did occur between the two.

Ronayne was added to USA Swimming’s banned list based on three sections of the Code of Conduct. Section 304.3.6 deals with pending charges for felonies, criminal offenses against minors or sexual misconduct charges. Section 304.3.8 is the major piece of the Code regarding inappropriate sexual contact or sexual relationships. Section 304.3.19 is a broader statute dealing with any act that could be a detriment to the image of USA Swimming or the sport as a whole.
