Former Swim Coach Pleads Guilty To Sexting With 13-Year-Old Girl

A former Connecticut swim coach pleaded guilty last week to a reduced charge in a child-sexting case with a local 13-year-old girl, per the CT Post.

28-year-old Alan Marcel was the head coach of the Park City WolfPACK swim club, which is based in the Bridgeport, Connecticut area.

Police say Marcel was caught sending illicit text messages to a 13-year-old girl when the girl’s mother went through her phone back in December of 2015. The girl said Marcel had been texting her for about two weeks, and the messages had escalated into discussions and questions about sexual activities the girl might be interested in taking part in.

The Park City WolfPACK promoted a new head coach shortly after the accusations against Marcel came out, and he is no longer with the club.

Last Friday, Marcel pleaded guilty to “risk of injury to a minor,” according to ctpost.com, effectively admitting to the accusations of illicit messages. The CT Post reports that the charge was part of a plea bargain struck between Marcel and the prosecution.

Marcel will serve a 3-year suspended sentence with three years of probation after that. His official sentencing is on November 20th. He is also required to have no further contact with the girl.

The Assistant State’s Attorney said the girl and her family “are in agreement with the disposition of the case.”

Plenty of these cases hook up post – sentencing . If she is 13 then 18 could be just over 4 years . An interesting legal situation if she really wanted contact then .

We all feel righteous now but we can’t control everyone & there are only so many parole officers & a zillion sexts. ( Previous generations of parents worried about sects) .

I am not saying it is good but this situation has always been with us & there is only so much theState can do to . Parents have to be aware enough to put some limits on their more tech savvy kids .
