Emma Reaney Reflects On Her Experience At Notre Dame And Looks Ahead Towards Rio

NCAA Champion and American Record Holder, Emma Reaney, finished her career as a student at the University of Notre Dame over the weekend. Several fans commented during the live recaps of the Arena Pro Swim Series meet in Charlotte asking where she was and what her future holds. We caught up with her to discuss her plans for the summer.

Emma was unable to compete in Charlotte over the weekend because she was still in South Bend, IN, for Notre Dame’s Commencement weekend. On Sunday, she walked across the stage on Notre Dame’s football field along with the rest of the class of 2015 to receive her diploma. Despite her American Record holder celebrity status, she wasn’t the biggest celebrity in attendance that day. Singer-songwriter Taylor Swift was on campus cheering on Emma (okay… Maybe it was her brother Austin, but probably not).

Now that graduation is behind her, she will return to North Carolina to resume her training with David Marsh and the rest of SwimMAC team elite. She will not be competing in Santa Clara at the final stop of the 2015 Arena Pro Swim Series, but she will stay busy this summer. Her next meet will be the Sette Colli Trophy in Rome, Italy on June 12th. She and her SwimMAC teammates will leave on June 7th for the meet.
