Griffen Younger, a swimmer for the Coast Guard Blue Dolphins located in Yorktown, Virginia, and Menchville High School in Newport News, Virginia has committed to swim at Davidson College, class of 2020.

Younger helped Menchville achieve a fourth-place team finish at the 2015 VHSL 5A State Swimming & Diving Championships. He placed fifth in the 100 fly and tenth in the 100 breast, and was on Menchville’s 400 free relay and 200 medley relay (he swam breast). Younger competed at the long course NCSA Junior National Championships this past summer. His top SCY times include:

  • 100 fly – 51.67
  • 200 fly – 1:54.68
  • 100 breast – 1:00.70
  • 200 breast – 2:14.21
  • 200 IM – 1:58.00
  • 400 IM – 4:12.64

With only two heats making finals at Atlantic-10 Conference Championships, Younger’s times are still just outside scoring range in his best events (100/200 fly), but he will be in good company at Davidson with a training group that includes butterflyers Chris Cardwell, Trey Harris, Ryan Knohl, Matthew Regan, and Spencer Davies.
