Commonwealth Games Medalist Emily Overholt signs with Speedo

Speedo Canada, the world’s leading swimwear brand, and a division of PVH Canada, Inc. is proud to announce the signing of a new multi-year sponsorship agreement with Canadian freestyle and IM specialist Emily Overholt. The 17-year-old made her debut on the Canadian Senior National Team in 2014 competing at both the Commonwealth Games and Pan Pacific Championships. Emily joins teammate and 2-time Olympic medalist Ryan Cochrane and 19-time Paralympic medalist Benoit Huot as the newest member of Team Speedo Canada.

“Speedo Canada is recognized for its continued involvement in the aquatic community. We are proud to support Emily and are inspired to have these talented Canadian athletes as members of Team Speedo.”

– Don Venn, Vice President, Hertitage Brands, PVH Canada, Inc.

After an outstanding showing at the 2015 Canadian Swimming Trials, Emily is the current reigning champion in both the 200m and 400m Freestyle and topped off her weekend with a silver medal in the 400m IM. She will compete in Toronto this summer at the Pan American Games, where she will be in medal contention in each of her three events, as well as the World Championships in Kazan, Russia.

Emily began swimming at the age of four and by age nine had joined her local swim club to pursue her passion for the sport. After breaking multiple age group records in 2012 she went on to qualify for the World Junior Championships in 2013. Emily brought home a bronze medal in the 400m IM from that event and established herself as one of the country’s most promising young swimmers. Her success in 2013 gave her the confidence to make the step onto the senior international stage the following year. Emily anchored the 4x200m Freestyle relay last summer and helped Team Canada capture both silver and bronze medals.

“I’m very excited to be partnering with Speedo Canada and to be a part of Team Speedo! They are an innovative company with the leading swimming products and I look forward to representing the brand.”
