Alexandra Wall of the Cincinnati Marlins and St. Ursula Academy has verbally committed to the University of Cincinnati Bearcats for the upcoming 2016-2017 season.

Wall, a backstroke and IM swimmer, competed last season in the Ohio State High School Division I Swimming and Diving Championships. She made finals in the 100 backstroke, finishing sixteenth in 58.74, although her prelim time was faster, a 58.19. Wall also teamed up with her St. Ursula Academy relay team of Josie Grote, Marissa DelGado, and Anna DelGado to take second in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:45.24. She led off the relay, clocking in at 27.32 in the 50 backstroke. Here are her fastest times:

  • 50 FR: 25.35
  • 100 BK: 57.61
  • 200 BK: 2:06.83
  • 200 IM: 2:07.92

The Cincinnati women’s team, coached by Mandy Commons-DiSalle, finished fifth in the NCAA Division I American Athletic Conference last season. Wall should be able to score some individual points for the Cincinnati team at next year’s AAC Championships. Last season, she would have taken fourteenth in the 100 back and fifteenth in the 200 IM.

Wall will join distance freestyler Laura Johnston in next year’s Bearcat freshman class.
