Christopher Huott, Head Coach of Maryland Suburban Swim Club, Arrested After Accusations of Child Sex Abuse

According to the Washington Post, 53-year old Christopher Thomas Huott, the head coach, founder, and owner, of the Maryland Suburban Swim Club, was arrested on Thursday morning after being accused by a former student of engaging her in “sex acts” when she was a child.

The abuse was alleged to have begun in the 1980’s, when the woman was 7 years old, according to the post.

According to official Montgomery County Court Records, Huott has five charges filed against him. That includes one count of Sex Offense Second Degree, three Counts of Sex Offense Third Degree, and one count of Child Abuse: Custodian.

According to Maryland statutes, a person may not “engage in sexual contact with another if the victim is under the age of 14 years, and the person performing the sexual contact is at least 4 years older than the victim;” or “engage in a sexual act with another if the victim is 14 or 15 years old and the person performing the sexual act is at least 21 years old.” That is the reference language in the first four charges.

The last charge involves a specific statute in Maryland that enhances the penalties for abuse against a child over whom an adult has “permanent or temporary care or custody or responsibility for the supervision of a minor.”

The first four counts carry a maximum prison sentence of 50 years, if proven to be true in a court of law; the last carries a 25 year sentence and can be served concurrently or consecutively with the charge for the abuse that caused this supervisory rider.

Huott is currently still listed as the founder and owner of MSSC on its website, saying he has been there since 1986.

A warrant for Huott’s arrest was issued on April 15th, and a preliminary hearing is set for May 23rd at 10:00 AM

No public phone number was listed for Huott, and no phone number for the Maryland Suburban Swim Club was listed on the team’s website. The team’s website directs all contact toward Huott himself.

Montgomery police are asking anyone with information on this incident or possible others to call 240-773-5400.

Your right… He needs to be removed from decks and dealt with by the proper authorities. But that doesn’t need any more saying. It’s quite obvious.

You can rest assured I’ll jump right in when someone tries to lessen the seriousness of his actions as they did in the previous instance you seem to be bothered by.
