Cassidy Fries Headed North to the University of Rhode Island

Cassidy Fries, who swims for Central Bucks Swim Team in Pennsylvania, has committed to the University of Rhode Island. Fries attributes her commitment to some excellent recruiting by coaches Mick Westkott and Anthony Randall:

“I heard about the program through Mick and Anthony…once I was up there for a visit I fell in love! The girls on the team are incredible and I can’t wait to spend the next 4 years improving my times and being apart of the growing program”

Fries is a breaststroke specialist who seldom competes in non-breaststroke races. Her personal bests put her within striking range of the top three on Rhode Island’s squad last year:

  • 100 breaststroke 1:08.47
  • 200 breaststroke: 2:28.30

Fries will need to improve considerably to score in the Atlantic 10 conference, where the Rams finished in 9th place as a team last year. It took 1:05.1 in the 100 and 2:22.74 in the 200 to make a B-final. She was a Pennsylvania High School state championship qualifier for Landsale Catholic High School, which is located just north of Philadelphia.
