Bartholomew Named ACC Female Swimmer of Week

Virginia sophomore swimmer Courtney Bartholomew has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Female Swimmer of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday (Nov. 26).

A native of Holland, Mich, Bartholomew set ACC, Virginia school, McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion and Ohio State Invite records in the 100- and 200-yard backstroke events last weekend (Nov. 22-24). In the 100 back, Bartholomew clocked a time of 50.73, the fastest time in the nation this season and moved her into fifth place on the all-time list for the event. In the 200 back, the sophomore finished in a time of 1:50.55, also the fastest time in the country this year and moved her into ninth all-time for event.

In addition, Bartholomew led off the 200 medley relay that automatically qualified for the NCAA Championships in 1:37.67 and placed fifth in the 200 IM in 1:57.45, the ninth-fastest time in the country this season.
