Air Force Freshman Breaks School Record in 100 Fly at TYR Invitational

U.S AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. –  Air Force freshman Maria Schroeder broke the school record in the 100 fly with a time of 54.77 as the Falcons are in third place in the TYR Invitational, Saturday, Nov. 22, at Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill.

Northwestern is in first place (775.5) while Michigan State is second (601), Air Force is third (388.5), Illinois-Chicago is fourth (249), St Louis is fifth (193.5), Truman State is sixth (174.5) and Northern Iowa is seventh (71).

Schroeder won the 100 fly with her school record time while her teammate, and fellow freshman, Elise Hart was second 55.04. Senior Kim Davis won the 400 IM. Her time of 4:16.20 was an NCAA “B” cut. Sophomore Genevieve Miller was second in the 200 free (1:48.81) while Sara Menke was sixth (1:52.58). KiraSchlosberg was third in the 100 breaststroke 1:03.91. Hart was third in the 100 backstroke 55.86.

Two Falcon relay teams placed in the top three. In the 200 medley, the Air Force team of Hart, Schlosberg, Schroeder and Brianna Mount was third (1:43.05). In the 800 free relay, the team of Davis, Menke, Jinan Andrews and Miller was second with a time of 7:22.79.

The third and final day of the TYR Invitational begins a 9 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 23.
