Here are the AgonSwim Weekly Wonders for the weekend of August 7-9, 2015.

Claire Tuggle, 11, Yosemite Marlins Swim Club: 200m free (2:10.16) – At the Western Zone Age Group Meet in Hawaii, Tuggle took another 4.3 seconds off her week-old personal best and won the girls 11-12 the 200 free. All told, Tuggle has dropped nearly 10 seconds in the event over the last 12 months, and she cracked the all-time top 100 list at 94. Tuggle also won the girls 11-12 100 and 400 frees.

Grace Ariola, 15, Waves Bloomington/Normal Y S.T.: 100m back (1:00.62) – Ariola ended the summer 2.5 seconds faster in the 100m back than she’d been a year ago. At U.S. Nationals she dipped under 1:01 for the first time, eclipsing a PB that was only a week old (she went 1:01.38 at Juniors). Ariola won the 100 back “C” final at Nationals and was tenth overall in the 200 back.

Josh Zuchowski, 11, East Coast Aquatic Club: 100m back (1:07.01) – The only 11-year-old in the final of the boys 11-12 100 back at Southern Zones Age Group Championships, Zuchowski took fifth with a best time of 1:07.01. He improved by more than 5 seconds over his time from last summer.

Michael Taylor, 16, Dynamo Swim Club: 200m back (1:58.10) – Taylor moved to third on the all-time list for 15-16 boys when he finished second overall in the men’s 200m back at U.S. Nationals. He also won the “C” final in the 100 back, and competed in the 100m fly at Nationals. Taylor went home with PBs in all three events.

Lindsey Horejsi, 17, Mantas Swim Club: 100m breast (1:08.99) – At U.S. Nationals, Horejsi placed 14th in the 100m breast with her first sub-1:09. That moved her up to 19th on the all-time list for 17-18 girls. Horejsi also finaled in the 200 breast, dropping nearly 3 seconds off her previous best time and settling at 27th on the top-100 list.

Ethan Dang, 13, King Aquatic Club: 100m breast (1:04.70) – At Western Zones, Dang took an improbable 8/10 off his newly-minted PB, and rose to number 4 on the all-time list for 13-14 boys behind Reece Whitley (1:03.23), Liam Bell (1:03.57), and Michael Andrew (1:03.83). And Dang still has another year in this age group.

Evan VanBrocklin, 11, Olympus Aquatics: 200m fly (2:27.00) – Also at Western Zones, VanBrocklin dropped 7 seconds and rocketed to second place overall in the boys 11-12 200 fly. He is now 20 seconds faster than he was a year ago in the event. After a summer full of best times across the board, VanBrocklin finished up with new PBs in the 400 free, 200 back, 50 fly, and 200 fly.

Emma Lasecki, 13, Green Bay Swim Club: 200m fly (2:18.27) – Lasecki improved her week-old personal best time by 1 second and won the girls 13-14 200 fly at the Central Zone 14 and Under Long Course Championships hosted by Team Foxjet. The weekend also produced best times for Lasecki in the 200 breast, 100 fly, and 200 IM.

Carly Cummings, 16, Condors Swim Club of Clarkstown: 200m IM (2:15.96) – Cummings dropped 2.1 seconds in the 200 IM from a year ago with her prelims swim of 2:15.96 at U.S. Nationals. Cummings made finals in both the 200 IM and 400 IM; she also competed in the 200 breast and 200 fly.

Dreamer Kowatch, 11, Aurora Swim Team: 400m IM (5:30.06) – At Western Zones, Kowatch improved her 400 IM time by 7 seconds and finished ninth overall in the girls 11-12 400 IM. She also made finals in the 100 free (9th) and 50 fly (11th), picking up new times in both events and in the 400 free, 100 fly, and 200 IM. Kowatch rounded off her PB list with new times in the 50 free and 100 back by leading off relays for Team Alaska.
